Allison Sommers: Potter’s Field @ Thinkspace Gallery

January 20, 2012 By Wendy Campbell

Brooklyn based artist Allison Sommers (featured) has a new exhibition on at Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City, California. Inspired by historical wars including WWI & the American Civil war,  “Potter’s Field” includes Sommers’ signature style of miniature scale paintings composed of gouache on paper  with creatures, either employed as soldiers, beasts or nurses amongst, engaged in action in a darkened, war torn landscape. Some of the smaller pieces are housed in antique matchboxes. Sommers is also exhibiting some of her largest paintings to date. (from studio visit with High Fructose)
