“American photographer August Bradley creates distinctive conceptual images with an artistic feel and a sense of drama and mystery. He works for clients ranging from designer labels to consumer brands to lifestyle magazines, as well as producing images for gallery exhibition. Prior to his current photography career, August developed marketing strategies for consumer brands including Gap, Banana Republic, J.Crew, Crate & Barrel, and others.” (from artist website)
Bradley’s interest in photography began in childhood when he would help his mother who was a portrait and fine art photographer. Interestingly, his main influences are authors: “I wanted to create stories, rather than capture events unfolding before me. I’ve always been a big reader, and I’ve found that there’s every bit as much truth and insight in the best literary fiction as in nonfiction works. I try to bring a literary sensibility to my graphic images.”
Bradley has won several awards including a Hasselblad Masters Award. He has been featured in numerous publications including Zoom, Digital Photo Pro Magazine, among others.
